John's 1st Christmas

Wow, this Christmas Holiday has truly flown by. This was our 1st Christmas with our little angel and we have enjoyed every minute of it. We have spent this entire month trying to keep John from pulling our Christmas tree down. Needless to say we took it down the day after Christmas! We have spent alot of time with family and friends and I am so thankful for each and every one of them. John has received a ton of toys and is having a blast playing with them! I can't even imagine how much fun next Christmas is going to be when John is a little older!

We went on our 1st real family vacation last week. We left on Saturday morning and went to Birmingham to Clint and Holly's house and spent the afternoon hanging out with everyone. Here is a picture of all the babies. It is so hard to get them to all look at the camera at the same time!

Then we went to Pell City to Jud and Lindsey's house. We left their house on Monday morning to head to Gatlinburg. Jud and Adam wanted to take the "scenic route" so that is what we did.
We got into Cherokee, NC and started across the mountain into Gatlinburg. Our car showed that it was 50 degrees when we started up. Half way up little "white stuff" started hitting our windshield and we saw that the temperature was quickly dropping. Adam asked if it was snow and we couldn't believe it! By the time we hit the top of the mountain our car thermometer said "ICE" and it was definitely snowing. We went back up the mountain the next morning and took these pictures.

On Wednesday we got up and ate breakfast at the pancake pantry and then went to The Aquarium. It was so beautful! I didn't know how interested the babies would be but they were so amazed at all of the fish and all of the bright colors. It was a wonderful experience. On Thursday morning we ate at the pancake pantry, AGAIN! We couldn't get enough of it! Then we walked around Gatlinburg before going to the Apple Barn in Pigeon Forge. The boys were not very impressed but Lindsey and I enjoyed drinking hot Apple Cider and the scenery was beautiful there. By the time Friday rolled around we couldn't believe it was already time to leave. It was the best vacation ever!

Friday night when we got back to Lindsey and Jud's house they had some friends and family over for taco soup for Halloween. We got the babies all dressed up in their costumes and they were pretty cooperative for a a few pictures. Amelia was a flower and John was a horse. I am really going to miss being around Amelia. She is so funny and she and I loved playing hide and seek at our cabin. She woke every morning looking for "Manda" in this cabinet I would hide from her in. John was obsessed with her. He would just laugh and smile at her when she would walk past him.

John's 6 month pictures

We took John yesterday to have his 6 month photos taken. All was well until we put him in his halloween costume. Let's just say he was less than thrilled to be a "horse". We only managed 1 decent shot in his costume. Oh well, hopefully we will have better luck on October 31st!

Poor baby John

Well, John has been diagnosed with his 1st ear infection. He spiked a 102.1 temperature at midnight Friday morning. He was so pitiful. He still had a 101 temp at 6am so we called the pediatrician when they opened and they wanted to see him. His doctor said that his right ear was infected and they started him on an antibiotic. He felt better on Saturday but has been fussy off and on and has ran a low grade fever again today. Despite being fussy from the pain in his ear it is amazing that he still tries hard to be happy and smile. I am sitting here watching him "scoot" around on the floor on his belly to get to his toys. He is "mobile" in his own way now! It won't be long and he will be all over the place. I pray that his antibiotic starts to kick in and his ear starts to feel better really soon.

John is getting so big!

John is getting to be such a big boy! He likes to hold his own bottle now and he LOVES cookies! He eats a butter cookie almost everyday at daycare! I can't believe he is going to be 6 months old tomorrow. Time really has flown by. I try not to get sad when I think about how big he is getting and try to just enjoy every moment of watching him grow. He is truly an angel baby. My sweet little miracle!

John and Eli at Fairhope Pier

Mom took these pictures a couple of weekends ago at the Fairhope Pier. We were able to get several good ones despite strong opposition (Eli being uncooperative and John insisting on looking at EVERYTHING except the camera!) HaHa! Nonetheless, precious memories were still made!

Here is John's 1st school picture!

John is sleeping better this week. I guess he is finally getting used to rolling and tumbling in the crib all night long. We took him to the Fair this past weekend. He was mesmerized by all of the lights. This picture is from the fair.

Bret and Mason came over for dinner last night. Bret has been down here doing a rotation at South Alabama and has been staying with Emily's parents. He kept Mason down here with him this week to give Em a chance to catch up on a little rest. John is amazed at Mason and really enjoyed watching him play. We are working with John on sitting up and he really enjoyed sitting in front of Mason while he played. He would try to grab at a toy like Mason but he didn't realize that would make him topple over. Poor baby! He will figure it out soon enough.

John laughing at Baylee

John weighs 15lbs 11 oz now! He is getting sooooo big. We are practicing with him on sitting up. Hope you enjoy the new pictures!

John has really started rolling this weekend. He is rolling from his tummy to his back. It's so funny though because when he gets to his tummy he is happy for only a short period of time and then he wants to be on his back but he hasn't mastered rolling from tummy to back yet. It is so funny to watch him!

Finally updating this!

Wow. I haven't posted in a long time! Life has been crazy! John is now4 1/2 months old. He will be 5 months on September 14th. Time is flying by. John is really developing his own personality now. He thinks his daddy is so funny. Adam can do just about anything and John will laugh. He loves it when I play peek a boo with him and he loves bath time. He is on such a good schedule now and is sleeping well at night. He has made some attempts at rolling over but not very many yet. However, he did somehow roll off the bed last weekend at Brooke and Joe's house. We aren't sure if he rolled or scooted but he ended up on the floor none the less. I was quite upset even though I know that most babies roll of the bed at some time or the other. Well, I promise to do better at updating this for those of you who don't get to see us very often.

1 MONTH OLD!!!

JOHN HANGING OUT WITH ADDISON. THIS WAS HOW JOHN WAS ACTING ON SOY FORMULA.

Sunday, May 11, 2008

So, we started John on Nutramigen formula yesterday. It says on the can that it is for colic and constipation. Hmmm, sounds just like John! So far so good. We haven't had any screaming fits since we started him on it. Only time will tell!

Doctor's appointment

John had a doctor's appointment yesterday. He weighed 7lbs 13 oz and had grown 1/2 inch since he was born. Our pediatrician switched him to soy formula because he is still having tummy problems and crying after the majority of his feedings. Adam and his two siblings had to be on soy formula as well as his niece so it doesn't surprise me. Hopefully this will do the trick! If not she is going to try him on Zantac for possible reflux. Keep us in your prayers!
